March Update

Published by winningracingtips at 12:07 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Hello everyone,
I had hoped to be writing this after we’d turned the corner on the current run of results, particularly as I thought the last selection, Auroras Encore was a cracking bet. That one was another faller adding to a run of results this month which has seen 24 selections, five 4th placed horses, two fallers, one unseated rider, and crucially - no winners. It doesn’t look good on the face of it but whilst a lot of the selections have been let downs I know there hasn’t really been a lot of quality to choose from. I also know that I really should have picked out a 16/1 winner at Nad al Sheba earlier in the month, this horse was a typical type of bet that I would normally give out and I was annoyed with myself for missing it. So the long and short of it is that there is absolutely nothing wrong in the approach and the method has pulled though much worse periods in the past. I am actually looking forward to the new flat season and there is nothing to suggest that the change in seasons should not bring a profitable period.
Laying System Tips
As from April in addition to the current tips I’ll also be including the lay selections from my flat laying system that I have mentioned in the past. This system was something I was first aware of in 2006 when it seemed to show amazing results, I didn’t log them that year so I decided to follow it on paper in 2007. The results I recorded in 2007 where overall very encouraging: 228 selections, 145 bets won (horses lost) for a 64% strike rate at average lay odds of 2.4. Based on £50 stakes the profit was £1633, which equates to 32.7pts profit and an ROI of about 10%. This is all good but even better when you consider these profits were made mostly in a few summer months. I tried to be conservative with the results and used odds 10% above SP and a commission of 4.8% to work out the results. In reality a lot of these horses are drifters and I certainly think it would have been possible to bet closer than 10% to SP. I have confidence in this system and will be betting them. I cannot guarantee another profitable season for it but I am quietly confident and would be very surprised to see it make a significant loss. Of course it’s your choice whether you decide to follow it or not and I will email the spreadsheet to anyone interested.
